Answer:-

Redox reactions are Oxidation & Reduction reactions.

dentify the substance s that are oxidised and the substances that are reduced in the given reaction: 2PbO + C------------> 2Pb +CO2

solution:            Oxidation means addition of oxygen or removal of hydrogen.           Reduction means addition of hydrogen or removal of Oxygen.

                       2PbO + C------------> 2Pb +CO2 So in the above reaction ,                   1. Pb is reduced .  ( From PbO to Pb ) .                    2. C is oxidised (From C to CO2 ) .

In the reaction MnO2 + 4HCl -> MnCl2 + Cl2 + 2H2O , Cl (chlorine) is the substance which is oxidized from the HCl, and it is the reducing agent for the MnO2 as well. As Cl is the oxidized substance in HCl, thus it is the oxidizing agent in the reaction
