First, Rhizomes are horizontal underground stems. ... The rhizomesgrow out from the original plant and invade the nearby soil. They then make new flowering stalks. Even though we think of grasses and weeds most often with this type of vegetativepropagation, this method of asexual reproduction can even be seen in irises.

Rhizome bacteria have special symbiotic relationship with some plants when they form root nodule they divide asexually by temporary transferring the genomic DNA . 

The Rhizomes consists of many key parts to their structure including nodes, antinodes, scale leaves, axillary buds as well as adventituous roots, which provide it support.
