with the help of ph paper how would you distinguish experimentally between an alcohol and a carboxylic acid
Answers
Answer:
We know that alcohol is neither acidic or basic so when we I will test it then any effect would not be there on pH paper or on the litmus paper but if we do the same experiment with the carboxylic acid then the litmus paper turns red because carboxylic acid is of acidic nature means it have the higher concentration of hydrogen ions.
my friend this is a question from my side and also a answer
I tell to you that how the the colour of litmus paper change? If you know then very well and if you do not know then. I would like to tell you this is related to question the main factor on which the litmus paper work is the concentration of hydrogen ions. If there is the higher quantity of hydrogen ion then it will be reddish in colour and if there is less concentration of hydrogen and then there will it become blue in colour this is the main reason why will the litmus paper turn red in the acidic medium and blue in the basic medium...
