some traits cannot be passed down since thay are sex-linked.These are the sex-linked traits,of which one type is the Holandric traits, which are traits controlled by genes obtained in the Y-chromosome only, and thus can only be transmitted from father to son.Females don't have such because in every gene is an X-chromosome.An example of this is the growth of hair in the pinna, and baldness, which only occurs in males.

The traits which are acquired during the lifetime of a person are called acquired traits. These traits involve changes in non-reproductive cells (somatic cells) which are not transferred to germ cells. So, these traits cannot be passed on to the next generation.
