Nanak was born on 15 April 1469 at Rāi Bhoi Kī Talvaṇḍī (present day Nankana Sahib, Punjab, Pakistan) near Lahore.

His father was the local patwari (accountant) for crop revenue in the village of Talwandi.


His parents were Kalyan Chand Das Bedi, popularly shortened to Mehta Kalu, and Mata Tripta.

Guru Nanak's comprehension of God is summarized in the Mul Mantar. It is the opening stanza of what is known as the Japji, the morning petition discussed by Guru Nanak and by all Sikhs all over. The Mul Mantar, a root instructing of the Sikh convention, establishes a framework for a strict general vision.

Guru Nanak restricted the Brahmin ministry and the station chain of importance of Hindu society. He built up the point of reference for what turned into the langar, the network feast explicitly to show the Sikh dismissal of Hindu standing.
