y = − 2.4x + 9.6

When the equation intersects with the x-axis, y = 0

When y = 0

-2.4x + 9.6 = 0

-2.4x = -9.6x

x = -9.6 ÷ (-2.4)

x = 4

⇒ The coordinate is (4, 0)

When the equation intersects with the y-axis, x = 0

When x = 0

y = − 2.4(0) + 9.6

y = 9.6

⇒ The coordinate is (0, 9.6)

Answer: The intersection with the x − axis is the point with coordinates (4 ,0 ). The intersection with the y − axis is the point with coordinates ( 0, 9.6 ).
