10 cm 9 mm of space is left above the dictionaries.

Step-by-step explanation:

The height of the book shelf = 30 cm

The thickness of the 3 dictionaries are:

6 cm 4 mm = (6 + 0.4) cm = 6.4 cm

7 cm 2 mm = (7 + 0.2) cm = 7.2 cm

5 cm 5 mm = (5 + 0.5) cm = 5.5 cm

It is given that  the three dictionaries are kept on top of the other on the shelf, therefore,

The total space covered by the 3 dictionaries = 6.4 + 7.2 + 5.5 = 19.1 cm

Thus,

The space left above the dictionaries on the shelf is,

= [Height of the bookshelf] - [Total space covered by the dictionaries]

= 30 cm - 19.1 cm

= 10.9 cm

= 10 cm 9 mm
