It's so nice on a cold night to sit in front of the fireplace and enjoy a warm fire. When the flames begin to die down and you take the poker and stir them up a bit, maybe toss another long on the fire, what happens? The flames shoot back
up and burn strong, right?

Did you know that your words and reactions have that same kind of power? When there is a conflict with a family member or friend, a kind,
gentle answer can keep the flames of anger from shooting up. But if you start yipping at the other
person with harsh words the flames will shoot up strong ... and probably burn for a while.
Keep your responses gentle and you'll keep
the flames away.

Dear Lord, please help me control my reactions and my
words. Guess I'm kind of a word foreman, huh? Amen.
