Explanation:

Heat Q and Work W are the two forms of Energy E .

So , according to first law of thermodynamics, the difference between the heat and work gives the change in energy E of a system. Heat as well as work are the path dependent i.e. does not depends on initial and final states of system but depends on how the process is achieved . So, these 2 are not a state function whereas change in energy is a state function. It is seen that due to heat and work transfer, energy is change.
