A clear lens located behind the pupil acts like a camera lens by focusing light onto the retina at the back of the eye. The retina is a light sensitive inner lining at the back of the eye.

I hope this will help you

The eye works in a very complex process.

Most of the refraction of the light rays entering the eye happens at the transparent membrane called cornea. The lens only provides the additional focussing of the images.

The pupil controls the amount of light rays entering the eye with the help of Iris muscles. The Iris contracts in bright light and relaxes in dim light to control the light entering the eye.

The retina is a light-sensitive membrane which consists of many light sensitive cells. Electric signals are generated on the retina upon illumination and an inverted real image of the object is formed. These signals are transported to the brain via the optic nerve. The brain interprets this image as it is and helps us to see.
