working
When an electric current is passed into the ractangular coil , the current produces a magnetic field around the coil . The magnetic field of the horseshoe type magnet then interacts with the magnetic field of the current carrying coil and causes the coil to rotate continously .
construction
an electric motor consists of a rectangular coil ABCD of insulated copper wire , mounted between the curved poles of a horseshoe type permanent magnet M in such a way that it can rotate freely . side AB and CD of the coil are keep perpendicular to the direction of magnetic field between poles . device reverse the direction of Current through a circuit called commutator .
