working for 8 hours daily, 40 people can dig the foundation of a building In 21 days . working for 10 hour daliy, if the work is to be finished in 14 days, how many people are needed to do the same work?​

• 8 hours , 21 days = 8 ×21 = 168 hrs

• 10 hrs, 14 days = 10 × 14 = 140hrs

Let people be x and the hours be y. If no. of people increases and no. of hours decrease -

inverse proposion.

xy = I

40 × 168 = 140k

672 = 140k

k = 672/140

k = 672/140 = 48 people

There fore we need 48 people.
