1 In answer to the first question, in order to decide the right time for doing something urgent, one must have look to look into the future. Since only magicians could do that, the king was advised to go to the magicians.
2 In answer to the second question, some said that the people most necessary to the king were his councilors, others said, the priests. A few others chose the doctor. And yet others said that the soldiers were the most necessary.
3 In answer to the third question, some said science would be most important, others choose fighting and yet others said religious worship.
4 No, the wise men did not receive the reward as the king got different answers for all the three questions he asked. He was not satisfied with any of them.
