no, it would actually be unfair to say that Heathcliff is dark and evil. No doubt he lacks the attributes that will make people praise him and celebrate him as the hero of the novel “Wuthering Heights”.

When Heathcliff is first introduced in the novel, we kind of feel sympathy towards him. He is a loved character until he leaves the house and disappears. But when he returns he is a changed character.

The change in his character can be linked up to his misinterpretation of Catherine’s conversation. The change in his character can be interpreted as circumstantial.
