Would u cool a bucket of water more quickly by placing it on ice or by placing ice in it. give reason gor ur answer

I'll keep the ice in the bucket to make them cool. Because if ice was kept under the bucket, ice need to send the cooling through 2 phases. first the bucket will be cooled ad the the water will b cooled. But if we add ice in the water. water will gets cooled faster.

Placing ice in the water will quickly cool the water because water will be in direct contact with the ice.So exchange of heat energy will take place between them. But if the bucket is kept on ice ,the bucket is in direct contact with the ice than the water. The bucket too will get cooled due to ice.
