“You are small and weak,” the pine tree said

To the swaying reed by the stream below,

“Whereas I am stately, high above you,

And have far more to show!”

The reed was silent. But soon after this

A gale began to bluster and blurt.

The rigid pine tree snapped in the wind,

But the plant reed bent unhurt.

A Few Words About The Poem:

In this poem, the pine tree and the reeds were having a conversation. The pine tree is proud of its strong looks and made fun of reeds by saying they were small and weak. The tree said, “You are swaying through the wind, but I am still high above you!”

The reeds became sad after hearing this. The leader of the reed told all the reeds to be silent. But then, a heavy storm came all through the day. Because of such heavy storm, the pine tree could not hold himself and it fell on the ground. On the other hand, the reeds were swaying through the wind happily without getting hurt. A little something for the parents:

Poems should be an integral part of your child’s growing process as they make their lives more colorful and vibrant by adding a variety of rich experience. So, every child should be encouraged to read more and more poems.
