- Eukaryotic term was derived from which means .
- These are well developed cells having prominent nucleus and cell organelles.
-
- Prokaryotic Cells are less developed cells. These are found in less developed organisms.
i. Eukaryotic cells have membrane bounded nucleus while Prokaryotic Cells don't have nucleus.
ii. Eukaryotic cells have well defined cell organelles while Prokaryotic Cells do not have.
iii. Eukaryotic cells have complex DNA while Prokaryotic Cells have very simple and small DNA.
iv. As Eukaryotic Cells have complex DNA and nucleus so their division is also complex in comparison with Prokaryotic Cells.
v. Eukaryotic Cells are bigger in size (10 - 100 micrometre) than Prokaryotic Cells (0.1 to 6 micrometre).
vi. Eukaryotic Cells have Chloroplast and Mitochondria which performs various metabolic activities while in Prokaryotic Cells such activities are rarely reported.
vii. In Eukaryotic Cells surface area is less due to presence of various cell organelles while in Prokaryotic Cells surface area is larger.
viii. Due to above reason Eukaryotic Cells generally growth slower than Prokaryotic Cells.
ix. Prokaryotic Cells are the first form of life on earth while Eukaryotic Cells comes later.
x. Kingdom posses Prokaryotic Cells while Kingdom and contains Eukaryotic Cells.
