India became an independent country on August 15, 1947 and then on January 26, 1950, the Constitution of India was established and the country was declared as Sovereign, Secular, Socialistic and Democratic Republic nation. Republic Day is celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm all over the country and this day is declared as a gazette public holiday by the government of India. All over the nation, people hoist flags and sing national anthem.

The President of India presides over the parade of Indian Armed Forces in the capital of the nation, New Delhi. The parade is organized on Rajpath from Vijay Chowk to India Gate.
