Phonoreceptors are belonging to the category of Receptors, which is a sensory organ or a cell which receives the stimuli (changes recorded in the environment) from either the outside or inside in the animal further which pass the impulses or electrical messages to the nervous system.
Receptors have classification accords to the type of stimuli it can receive. The one you have been asking for, is included into the type of baroreceptors.
Baroreceptors are the pressure receptors which have sensory nerve endings embedded into the walls of the atrium of the heart, vena cava, aortic arch and carotid sinuses. They have beem noted as extremely sensitive to the strechting of the wall, hence, resulting from the increased pressure from within the body or tissue system.
Phonoreceptors are the responsive actions in an order to the change to air one mediums and sound waves, in particular, it belongs to the ear, it is present in the hair cells in organ of corti of internal ear (membranous Labyrinth). The internal ear consists the membranous labyrinth at the region of middle ear. It is a structure, which floats constantly in the perilymph region. The movements of endolymph and tectorial membranes stimulate the sensory hair of the organ of corti, hence, producing the mechanism of the sound.
