Sarvapelli Radhakrishnan was the first Vice president and the second vice president of India. He was born on 5 September 1888 Thiruttani, Madras Presidency, British which is now Tamil Nadu.

He is a great and a popular teacher and his birth anniversary is celebrated as Teacher's day. He was at the top of the list in the name of teachers in 20th century.

He was married at the age of 16, in 1904 and his wife's name was Sivakamu and had five boys and 1 girl child. He took his primary education in Thiruttani itself. He took his secondary education in Hermansburg Evangelical Lutheran Mission School in Tirupati .

He formed a party with many others and his party was named as Krishnarpan Charity Trust.
He came into politics after completing his studies.

He only said everyone to name his bday as teacher's day as he was a great teacher and loved students and teachers.

He got Bharat Ratna in the year 1954 for his great deeds.

Position: Second President of India (1962-1967)

Dr. Radhakrishnan was the first Vice-President of India and the second (1962-1997) President. Radhakrishnan, who started teaching work from the Presidency College of Madras, later went on to become professor at the University of Mysore and then worked as a teacher in many universities of the country. From 1939 to 1948 he was also the Vice Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University (BHU). He was a philosopher, conductor of Indian culture and a devout Hindu thinker. In honor of this famous teacher, his birthday is celebrated in India as Teacher's Day.

Early life:-

Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan was born in a poor Brahmin family in Tirupati, Madras. His father was poor because Sarad palli Radhakrnan's education was done with the help of scholarship. He passed the matriculation examination in 1902 and received scholarship. After this, he passed the first class examination of the Arts Faculty in 1904. He chose philosophy as a major subject in graduation and postgraduate. They received honors with high marks in psychology, history and mathematics. Apart from this, Christian College Madras also gave him scholarship.

Teaching:-

M.A. in Philosophy In 1909, he was appointed Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Presidency College, Madras. In the college, he had gained expertise on mythology such as Upanishad, Bhagvat Gita, Brahmasutra and Ramanuja Mahadeva etc. During this time he kept himself busy in Buddhism, Jain scriptures and Western thinkers Plato, Palatins and Bergson. In 1918 he was elected Professor of Philosophy at University of Mysore. Radhakrishnan was nominated Professor of Philosophy of the University of Calcutta in 1921. In 1923, Dr. Radhakrishnan's book, 'Indian Philosophy', was published. This book gets the fame of Best Philosophy Literature. Sarvapalli was called to give a speech on Hindu philosophy at Oxford University. He also used his speech to accelerate the freedom movement. In the year 1931 Sarvapalli contested the post of Vice Chancellor at Andhra University. He became the Vice Chancellor of the Banaras Hindu University in 1939 and remained in office until 1948.

Political life:-

After the independence of India, he represented the country at UNISCO. Radhakrishnan was India's ambassador to the Soviet Union from 1949 to 1952. He was made the country's first Vice President in the year 1952. In 1954, he was honored with Bharat Ratna. After this, he was elected the second President of the country in 1962. When he was in the Presidency, India also fought with China and Pakistan. He retired from the presidency in 1967 and settled in Madras.
