Explanation:

the process in which cells undergo meiosis to form gametes.

Gametogenesis is the process whereby a haploid cell (n) is formed from a diploid cell (2n) through meiosis and cell differentiation. Gametogenesis in the male is known as spermatogenesis and produces spermatozoa. Gametogenesis in the female is known as oogenesis and result in the formation of ova.

Gametogenesis is a biological process by which diploid or haploid precursor cells undergo cell division and differentiation to form mature haploid gametes. Depending on the biological life cycle of the organism, gametogenesis occurs by meiotic division of diploid gametocytes into various gametes, or by mitosis.

Gametogenesis is important because it is the process that produces your functional gametes (egg and sperm cell) either through meiosis from a diploid cell or mitosis from a haploid cell (plants). These gametes are important because this allows geneticaly-varied organisms (offspring) to be formed.

HEYA MATE HERE U GO

. the process of formation of two types of gametes, male and female is called gametogenesis.

. gametes are haploid cells (n)

. in some algae, the gametes are similar in appearance and it is not possible to categorize them into male and female gametes such gametes are called homogametes ex:-cladophora.

. in majority of sexually reproducing organisms the gametes are morphologically distinct and separable into male and female gametes so they are called heterogametes

ex:-funaria, pteris, cycas

. here, the male gametes are called antherizoids and the female gamete is egg
