For the use of administrators and scholars, the National Archive is a repository of the non- current accounts of the government of India. In 1891, it was originally founded by the Imperial Record Department in Calcutta. This department works under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Records here are kept in four categories including Oriental, Public records, Private papers and Manuscripts. The language of these records includes English, Hindi,  Urdu, Persian, Arabic and Sanskrit.
