Rolling friction and sliding friction arecaused by the rubbing of the surfaces together. The surface of the floor is rubbing the surface of the moving body. This rubbing results to heat produce during the process and the motion of the body is impeded. The force that impedes motion is what we call friction.

Rolling resistance, sometimes called rolling friction or rolling drag, is the force resisting the motion when a body (such as a ball, tire, or wheel) rolls on a surface. ... Another cause of rolling resistance lies in the slippage between the wheel and the surface, which dissipates energy.

Any ball or wheel has rolling friction when rolled on a surface. Some examples of items that have rolling friction are: Truck tires. Ball bearing
