ANSWER :
Virginia was the daughter of the American Minister, Hiram B Otis. When she came to live in the Canterville Chase with her family, she was a slim and lovely girl of fifteen years.
Virginia was a very kind-hearted girl. She had never insulted the ghost. Whereas, All the members of her bv family hated the ghost and her brothers took pleasure in troubling the ghost. On the other hand, she had a human attitude towards him. When she saw the ghost in Tapestry Chamber, she felt pity on him, and felt sorry for the behaviour of her brothers.
She was a helpful girl. She treated him as if he was a human being. When the ghost told her that his wife's brother had starved him to death, she thought that he was hungry and offered him her sandwich. At this the ghost replied that ghosts do not eat.
When the ghost told Virginia that he was so lonely and unhappy that he did not know what to do, she advised him to sleep peacefully. At this , the ghost told her that he had not slept for three hundred years and he was very tired.
The ghost told her that he could get peace in the ‛Garden of Death’. He told her that it was she who must weep for him for his sins because he had no tears. She must pray for his soul because he had no faith. She could help him get a peaceful death. He requested her to go with him.
She Showed Courage in accompanying the ghost and took a calculated risk in helping the ghost get a peaceful death. By her mobility, Courage and kindness, she proved that love is stronger than life and even death.
Thus, Virginia was full of sympathy and was different from all others.
