John Donne's poem "Sweetest Love I Do Not Goe" is about the concept of life and death. Donne talks to his wife that him leaving is a preparation for her for the day he will die. He says that death is inevitable.

He also talks about the process of life. He observes the way the sun rises and sets. From dusk till dawn, one may rise while other may set.

He believes that one must live life to the fullest. He says that the life of a person must be celebrated after his death.

John Donne has has presented the fact through his poem, ‘Sweetest love I do not goe ‘ that human beings are mortal.

So, in spite of loving his beloved so much, he has to leave.

As time goes on and everything comes to an end, so does our life.

Though he utters in belief that love they bear for each other will keep them alive in each other’s heart irrespective of his physical absence.
