Daffodil,a common flower, has been sketched with extraordinary qualities. The principal object in the poem is nothing but a flower which is colored with imagination. Daffodils here are presented to the mind in an unusual way using the language closer to life.
Daffodil illustrates Wordsworth's theory of poetic creation. He describes poetry as the spontaneous overflow of emotions recollected in tranquility. This poem thus recaptures a moment from Dorothy(his sister)'s diary in which she had described what she and Wordsworth saw while walking near a lake at Grasmere in England on April 15,1802.This poem was composed in 1804.
