In my view, when one is very young, one can have all the attention of one’s parents. As one grows older, one doesn’t have memories to share with another person whereby parents may be too busy for their child. As one passes through the 40’s and 50’s, the aging of parents may become an increasing burden to care for them as well as helping the children through college. Having other siblings may help as parent’s age and as one age as well.
Siblings can be a pest and a menace in one’s life, but hopefully, when the chips are down, siblings may or will come through for you.
SUMMARY: A single child/person may have no one to pick him/her up when life beats him/her up while siblings may be there for one another.
