Dear Diary:

One of the worst floods have hit Kerala in decades. Owing to copious rainfall that started on August 8, 2018, all the dams of the state were filled to capacity. The gates had to be opened to keep the dams safe. The incessant rains further deteriorated the flood situation. Approximately 370 people have died in the floods so far. Thousands of homes have been affected and damaged. More than a million people had to take shelter in relief camps. Normal life has come to a standstill. It will take many months of hard-work to bring life to normalcy in Kerala. May God help the people of Kerala.

Dear Diary,

I am feeling agitated at the moment. Recently realization dawned upon me in regard to the ongoing crisis around the globe especially Kerala.

Recently as of in the beginning of the month of August 2018, all the dams in Kerala got filled up and then overflowing started due to massive rainfalls.

To keep the dams safe, the gates had to be opened but that led to another hurdle. It led to floods and then increasing floods. Sources estimated that many people, as much as 370 died in the floods.

It led to unresolved collateral damage, killing and destroying homes. Relocating these people was also a task for the government. More than a million people had to take shelter in relief camps.

I was sad looking at the faces of homeless people, drowning in their pain and agony of the unrecoverable losses. I hope it all works out well.

Tomorrow morning me and my parents have decided to donate some necessities to the relief camp sites to help. I hope i am able to make some difference in the lives of these people.
