Today was a usual day, just like other winter days. I stayed in and went through some old books. I came upon an old story that touched me deeply. I wonder why our contemporary writers come up with such themes anymore.
However, the story was about a bishop who was a man of God not just because of his position but also because of his actions. He was as selfless as one could be and I'v come to believe that the satisfaction that comes from giving can never be achieved from taking. He would give up his belongings to help the people in need. While his very own sister would get furious on such kind acts. His actions came right from the heart and had the power to leave a mark on people. He then encountered a convict who stole his candlesticks but later got caught and was brought to him by the police. The bishop knew his story, he could see the good in him that was lost to the hardships of this world. So instead of revenging or punishing him, he told a lie to set him free. This one act, touched the convict deeply and made him change his ways. Now this is how one influences other people. Not by long sermons and lectures but by setting an example through actions. May I have the compassion like that of the bishop's.
