Rath yatra one the the most popular yatra and holiest festival of odisha. The most popular Rath Yatra was held in Purifying. it is celebrated on the second day in the bright fortnight of asadha. The festival commemorate Jagannath's annual visit to gundicha temple near saradhabali in puri.

As part of Rath yatra, The dieties of lord jagannath, lord balabadhra and subadhra along with sudharshan are taken out in a procession out of the shrine of the temple and placed on the decorated chariot. This process is called pahandhi. After that king of puri comes to do the Holy cleaning of chariot which is called chera pahanra. After that devotes pull the chariot to the gundich temple which is known as the birth place of lord jagannath.
