hii frnd...!!
here is ur answer...

metals :
1. Atoms of metals have 1,2or3 electrons in their outermost shell .Less the no. of valence electron ,more the reactive is the metal.
2. Formation of ions : Metals form positively charged ions ( cations) by loss of electron(s).Thus ,metals are electropositive.
3. Nature of oxides: Metals generally form basic oxides and these are electrovalent compounds.

NON - METALS..
1. Atoms of nonmetals have 4 or more than four electrons in their outermost shell.
2. Formation of ions :
Nonmetals are electronegative as they form negatively charged ions ( anions) by gain of electrons.
3.Oxides of nonmetals are normally acidic and these oxides are covalent compounds.

Hey Friend....
~~~~~~~~~~~
Differences between metal and non-metal in chemical properties are as follows:○
°°Metal°°
~~~~~~~
1》Metals are electro-positive elements. They form positive ions releasing one or more electrons.

2》Metals form basic oxides.Eg:• Na2O, Ca0 are basic.

3》Active metals liberate hydrogen from acids.

4》Most of the metals react with oxygen of air and form their oXides.

°°Non-metals°°
~~~~~~~~~~~~
1》Non-metals are electro-negative elements.They form befative negative ions accepting one or more electrons.
2》Non-metals form neutral or acidic oxides.Eg:-C02 and S02 are acidic.
3》Non-metals donot react with oxygen.
4》Generally, Non-metals cannot liberate H2 from acids.
H0pe u will like my ans.
