During the summer vacation I along with my cousin ,decided to visit Mussoorie, hill station in Garhwal mountains of Uttarakhand ,also known as the Queen of the hills .The eight-hour journey by the Mussoorie Express was quite a uneventful and early morning we reached Deharadun,a city on foothill of Garhwal mountains. The two hour taxi ride from Dehradun to Mussoorie was very exciting .The sharp turns and the steep climbs made my stomach cuddle .My cousin sensing my state gave me some lemon drops. Soon nausea abated and I started enjoying the beauty of the mountains, full of greenery .Occasionally glancing down deep gorges woods and chill down my spine which made me cling desperately to the seat as taxi swung from side to side .

The first thing that struck me as a stepped out of the taxi was a cold refreshing breeze. It was a welcome change for the hot loo we had left behind .we headed towards a tourist lodge which was a the little distance away from 'The Mall'. By the time we reached it we were panting for breath.

After a quick breakfast we decided to go for a hike.Avoiding the overcrowded Mall Road, we walked on the quite wooden path towards the sisters Bazaar of the town ,which still retains much of a it's pristine beauty with big pine and deodar trees .On Mall we took a trolley for going to the Gun Hill top.I was mesmerized by the flora and fauna of the valley as the trolley ascended .A motley crowd of tourist in the gun Hill Top was busy shopping in the tastefully decorated stalls ,which offered novelty items and eatables.Looking through the telescope I saw many mountains covered with snow . the south side of the ridge overlooked The Doon Valley and the Shivalik Hills . I got myself photographed as Gabbar Singh ,the legendary tinsel dacoit , before returning to the lodge.

Early next morning we set went to be Kempty Falls ,which was half an hour's drive from Mussoorie .The Silver stream of water falling from a great height was indeed enchanting. Small droplets stuck me on my face, though I was standing quite a distance away the children were having a whale of time in the little pool of water little pool of water a little distance away. The merry making was so infectious , that I also got completely drenched, standing below the Silver stream of water. After a quick change , and a sumptuous lunch, we returned to the lodge for packing our baggage, to return the next morning.

As the taxi raced down the hill, I bid farewell to the lovely mountains with a heavy heart .I made a solemn promise to come again for a longer stay in the lap of nature .
