Here is your essay

Liberty is the state of being free, to be able to speak and say anything freely. Liberty was not absolute for everybody. Back then and even today people still don’t have complete liberty in America. The early Americans put limits on freedom even when they were trying to create more freedom. They type of limits that the early Americans put on freedom were limits on freedom of speech, and much more. Even with the American Revolution, it was not for everybody. The American Revolution was only for the colonist and men, but over time the idea of liberty and equality became for everyone. Women, Slaves, and minorities did not get equality from the American Revolution. Women, and slaves wanted equality, they wanted more rights.

One group of people who didn’t have absolute liberty back then and even today are women. Although today women do have more liberty today than they did back then. There are women in other countries fighting to have more freedom. For example in Afghanistan women have limited freedom. In Afghanistan women are constricted to the house. If they were to leave the house they have to be completely covered and they have to be accompanied by a male relative. In America Indian women were treated different in their culture. Indian women could divorce their husband if they wanted to, and they also took on agricultural work. Indian women played an important role in the religious expect of the Indian culture. Women in Europe compared to women in Amercia. In the United States there was a time when women didn’t have the same rights as men. Back then women were not seen as equal to men. Women were supposed to be the house taking care of the children and the home while the man where supposed to be out working.

Liberty is derived from the Latin word liber which means free. It is a word of negative meaning denoting absence of restraint. Its primary significance is to do what one likes, regardless of all consequences.

Freedom is defined as "having liberty of action or thought, independent". "Self-governed or not controlled by an outside party" is another definition of freedom.

But this is obviously impossibility. Liberty in the sense of a complete absence of restraint cannot exist. We cannot live together without common rules. The presence of common rules of behaviour is the consequence of our gregariousness. If I choose to do all that I wish, regardless of the interests of others among whom I live, there is likely to be perpetual strife and conflict in society; conditions of chaos and anarchy. Such a society does not provide freedom for me or for others.

By liberty, therefore we mean freedom to do everything provided it does not injure the freedom of others. It implies necessary restraint on all in order to ensure the greatest possible amount of liberty for each. Liberty, in this sense, can be maximised only when there is mutual respect and goodwill and all follow a simple rule of social behaviour: “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.”

freedom of the person in going and coming, equality before the courts, security of private property, freedom of opinion and its expression, and freedom of conscience subject to the rights of others and of the public — compare personal liberty.

At last, I would like to conclude by a quote-

"The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud.”

- Coco Chanel (French fashion designer and businesswoman)
