The festival is celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm by people throughout the world. Although it’s considered a Hindu festival, but people from different communities celebrate the bright festival by bursting crackers and fireworks.

According to Hindus, Diwali is a festival which commemorates the return of Lord Ram to Ayodhya along with his wife Sita, brother Lakshman and ardent devotee Hanuman after defeating the demon king Ravan. This religious festival signifies the victory of good over evil and the triumph of light over darkness.

Diwali is often referred to as “Festival of Lights”. People light earthen oil lamps and decorate their houses with lights of different colours and sizes which glitter at their entrances and fences that makes for a mesmerizing view. Kids love bursting crackers and different fireworks like sparklers, rockets, flower pots, fountains, peony fireworks, etc.

On this auspicious occasion, Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped by Hindus as merchants open new account books on Diwali. Furthermore, people believe that this beautiful festival brings wealth, prosperity and success to all. People also buy new clothes for themselves and look forward to exchanging gifts with their family, friends and relatives during the festival

Diwali is also called Deepawali is one of the largest celebrations of Hindus in India. Diwali is the festival of lights. On this day, you may only see lights everywhere.

This festival mostly falls in the beginning of winters each year. The rich and poor alike celebrate this festival. We observe a lot of joy within the hearts of the people. They visit temples. Wherever spiritual songs are sung, and ‘Kirtanas’ are held. In all the temples, the lives of the gods and the goddesses are shown through photos and pictures.

Thousands of people watch these scenes that have got a lot of spiritual importance.

In some parts of the country, Diwali is considered to be a harvest festival. This is often as a result of it’s the time once the rice is cultivated. Since India is principally an agricultural economy, this could be the time for celebration. The grand ceremony is controlled currently. The festival holds specific importance for the farmers. Before this festival, people start cleaning their homes and start decorating it with lights, candles, diyas, and colorful Rangolis. Everything is looking beautiful and colorful.

The children enjoy this festival very much. They buy fire crackers and let them off. They buy sweets and toys. They decorate their homes and dance with happiness. The bankers and dealers in gold and silver celebrated this festival with great zeal. People perform havens in their homes and business houses. They send sweets to their kith and kin.

Diwali is an auspicious day. The whole atmosphere is full of the air of celebration and joy around this point.  The firecrackers burnt on at the moment are a full defer.

We should say no to crackers and tell those around us to do the same. Parents should take this as their responsibility to tell their kids concerning the harmful effects of burning crackers.  This could facilitate in bringing down the fireworks on Diwali.
