It was the centre of learning and education in ancient India. People from different parts of the world came here to acquire knowledge. It is the birth place of three religions—Sikhism, Buddhism and Jainism. It is the country which made the world familiar with the philosophy of non-violence and truth. Today, Buddhism is a popular religion in many countries of the world. It is the land of seers and saints. Great saints like Manu, Mahavir, Guru Nanak, Buddha, Chaitanya, Kabir, Rahim, etc were born in India. They gave the world the message of peace, love, harmony, and brotherhood. They gave the society a new direction.
