Enid Blyton was a well known English children’s writer. In the poem ‘If I knew’ she is telling what she wants to do with ‘Smiles’ and ‘Frowns’.
If she finds the box of ‘Smiles’ she would try to open it and would spread all smiles all over the world. She wants to see the lightened faces of children with smiles.
Similarly if she finds an empty and large box, she would gather all sorrows and frowns, and would dump them in it. Then she will throw that box in the deep sea.
Thus her wish is to throw away all sorrows from the world and to fill this world with smiles and happiness.
