he President,

City A.B.C
Sir,
Subject: Complain about water Shortage
With full respect, I would like to draw the attentions of the president of Residents
Welfare Association towards the shortage of water in our colony. This problem
is demanding attention and its really serious problem. If we are fortunate
enough maybe our problem can be solved.
As on daily basis water is used in everything. It is a very necessary element
in our life without it we are nothing. Water is not available for many days it
is difficult to do daily routine work. There is not even water for drinking we
need to buy water for drinking on daily basis.
Please try to provide colony with an appropriate amount of water. If there
is problem that you are facing in giving water then you should provide colony
with truck of water on daily basis so this problem can be solved.
I'm doing all of this because this matter is out of our tolerance now.
Everyone in the colony is very troubled with this. I hope that the concerned
authorities must look into the matter seriously and must take some prompt and
necessary action to overcome this problem. And if the problem will be solved
its credit will be goes to you. I am waiting for your response.
Yours truly,
X.Y.Z
Answer:
Water supply is the provision of water by public utilities, commercial organisations, community endeavors or by individuals, usually via a system of pumps and pipes. Irrigation is covered separately.
Global access to clean waterEdit

In 2010, about 56% of the global population (5.9 billion people) had access to piped water supply through house connections or to an improved water source through other means than house, including standpipes, water kiosks, spring supplies and protected wells. However, about 13% (about 900 million people) did not have access to an improved water source and had to use unprotected wells or springs, canals, lakes or rivers for their water needs.[1]
A clean water supply—in particular, water that is not polluted with fecal matter from lack of sanitation—is the single most important determinant of public health.[citation needed]Destruction of water supply and/or sanitation infrastructure after major catastrophes (earthquakes, floods, war, etc.) poses the immediate threat of severe epidemics of waterborne diseases, several of which can be life-threatening.
