The roadside dwellers are deprived of civic amenities like light, public toilets, etc. People live in darkness at night, defecate and bathe in the open. The whole area reeks of a foul smell all the time In the summer and rainy seasons, the problems get worsened. An obnoxious smell irritates and is unbearable.
The roadside dwellers are living in a virtual hell. Moreover, they have occupied every open space and it is very difficult for the residents even to walk on the roads safely. Their children play on the roads and have made the area accident-prone. Some dwellers have taken illegal electric connections. The live wires hanging loosely in the air pose a constant danger to life and property.
These dwellers are household helpers but they cannot be allowed to create problems. It is hoped that this letter will bring to the notice of the civic authorities the combined problems of the roadside dwellers and the residents to initiate some positive steps to correct the situation.
