Dear Sir,
I am a software professional working for the company Telco Inc. Ltd, New Delhi.
This is to bring to your notice, the degrading safety of women after evening hours in metro rails.
Despite of all the measures and actions implemented and the serious weight given, the incidents on women harassment are constantly increasing on the graph. The reported incidents revealed a 6% increase of women harassment just in the last one month.
- The women’s compartment isn’t a source in assuring safety. Men keep on occupying seats in the women’s compartments.
- Women are being accused and rejected to travel in general compartments. I’m one of the victims. Dated 21st Aug, 2018 8:35 pm, I was rejected and sent out of a general compartment saying that women have special compartments to travel in. I had to wait till later hours to catch another train which was not found to be safe either.
- Due to lack of proper monitoring, there are groups of young boys and middle aged men traveling in metro rails, who target women.
- Also, the pick pocketing troops started assuming women, as being their primary targets, as the pick pocket cases reported are being given less weight as compared to other molestation and rape cases.
Requesting you to consider the problems and challenges faced by women in Delhi during the commute using metro rails. Also, hoping for the immediate action and implementation of better and more algorithms to avoid the crimes.
