The Commissioner
Municipal Corporation
Ludhiana
Subject: Prevention of mosquito-borne diseases.
Sir:
Respectfully I wish to bring to your kind notice the poor
state of water stagnation caused by poor sewage and drainage system in our
colony. Last year mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue, and
chikungunya took heavy toll of human life. There were 20 fatalities recorded. Your
good self had promised to get the sewage and drainage system repaired. However,
in spite of repeated requests, reminders and complaints, no action has been
taken to relive us of our distress. We the residents have taken all the measures such as not allowing any water to stagnate in or around our houses in any form. But the water stagnated on the roads is beyond our power!
I on behalf of the residents of the entire colony appeal to you to look into the matter and take prompt action as the rainy season is not very far. In case of further delay, the residents are planning to call a national TV channel and have a documentary made of the insanitary conditions prevailing in our area. It will definitely attract the attention of the authorities at the Central Government. Looking forward to prompt action from your side.
Yours truly,
Manish Sharma

Answer:
The insecticide used in the mosquito foggingis a synthetic pyrethroid that is very similar to the insecticides used in most domestic insect spray cans that are found on supermarket shelves.Fogging is a technique used for killing insects that involves using a fine pesticide spray (aerosol) which is directed by a blower. In some cases, a hot vapour may be used to carry the spray and keep it airborne for longer. Fast-acting pesticides like pyrethroids are typically used. So, when you are mosquito fogging, for the first week you should fog your target area every day or every two days to disrupt their breeding cycle. This will help you get rid of all the adult mosquitoes and their eggs. After that, you can increase the fogging interval to once per week.
