Dear Sir,

Hope that you are fine. I am a resident in Delhi and would like to share my concern change the current laws on the use of groundwater.

Groundwater is an important resource but now many people in our society, in city are digging big bores so that they can get maximum water pressure but this is also effecting ground water level

There is no control over this concern, so I request you to kindly look into this and establish and implement laws on the use of ground water, both residentially and commercially

Best regards.

Subject – The necessity to change the current laws on the use of ground water

Respected Sir,

With due respect, I want to highlight the need and necessity to change the ground water laws.

As water is one of our basic essential needs to live , it is one of the most valuable assets and needs to be protected at all costs. The current legal framework is not sufficient and also filled with loopholes ,allowing people to legally extract ground water from their lands which brings down the water table level of the area.  Some reforms that can be taken:

  1. The ground water ought to be utilized solely to the extent, which may be recharged.
  2. For recharging the ground water strategies of construction of minor irrigation tanks/percolation tanks ought to be adopted. Priority should incline to exploitation of H2O resources for drinking water functions.
  3. Under the jurisdiction of municipal bodies H2O shall not be utilized without their permission for personal use or the other purpose.
  4. If availability of ground is quite the requirement of water of a municipal body then the ground water will be used for any other purpose with due permission of the body.

Therefore I request the concerning authorities to look into the matter seriously and take necessary steps for resolving the ground water laws.

I shall be highly obliged to you.

Yours Faithfully

XYZ
