Jorhat is worstly affected, the roads are washed away the electric and telephone calls littered on the roadside along with master trees with blocked the moment of traffic.
The places have enveloped in deadly silence. The eerie silence is broken by the sobs and wail of children, huddled together in small groups in a makeshift tents. The entire Jorhat seem to have been razed to the ground.
Many people are suffering from water borne diseases such as cholera because of the stagnant water. Many people died, there bodies cannot be located while few are highly decomposed. People are unable to survive as there is a sacarisity of food and pure water. People are straving to death.
I kindly request you to publish the following lines in your reputed newspaper to bring a notice to the government and comman man about the sufferings of people in Jorhat. I would also like to request the army and Paramilitary forces to help the people in the Jorhat by removing debris from houses and clearing roads, Doctors to help and provide first aid to the injured people and NGOs , air force to provide food and other essential things by the means of your newspaper.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,
