Subject: The Plight of the Elderly
Dear Sir:
I am writing this letter to express my deep concern over the plight of the elderly people in our country. They have to face lots of difficulties almost everywhere. At home they are not treated well by their own family members; and at public places their rights are also being violated.
The Government has made provisions for many facilities for senior citizens at banks, railway stations, bus stands, hospitals, and other places. But I have seen these facilities being deprived to them by none other than the common citizens. The seats meant for them are occupied by younger people on public buses and trains. The queues meant for senior citizens at banks, hospitals, etc. are used by other people.
At this age they need extra care. Since they are old, they can’t earn livelihood. The money earned by them is spent on the education and marriages of their children as a result of which their financial condition is not good.
Through the medium of your newspaper I appeal to concerned authorities and common people to take care of the needs of the elderly.
Thanking you.
Yours truly,
Saurabh Shukla
Explanation:
Respected sir,
This letter is to drive the attention of the people towards the adverse condition of the elderly people in the society. Many a time we have seen people are ill-treating their parents, they lose their patience and sometimes even shout at them . We need to develop a feeling of tolerant attitude amongst ourselves and treat the elders in the right manner.
Thanks and Regards,
Amarth
