Subject: The Evil of Drinking 

Sir,

I write this letter to express my deep concern over the problem of alarming rising of alcohol consumption in India and the dire consequences in its wake. I was shocked to read the statistics pertaining to drinking alcohol in our country. According to 2013 National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) which is based on alcohol-attributable years of life lost, India has been rated 4 on a scale of 1 to 5. This implies that the alcohol consuming population of our country loses most years of their life because of drinking and its consequences.

Keeping in view the adverse effects of alcohol consumption, I appeal to the Government at State as well as the Central level to make policies to curb and control, and discourage alcohol consumption in our country. I hope my views will find due space in the columns of your esteemed daily.
