I am Priyali Vedant working for Banyan Green Tree NGO where we are concerned with issues relating to the environment and resolving it through educating people about the importance of protecting our ecosystem along with implementing several measures to make planet greener. I the course of my work, I happen to come across ABCL organisation, who I must say has been doing commendable job with regard to spreading environmental awareness. ABCL is into the furniture and fixture business and creates great experiences by offering a variety of furniture, architecture, and technology services/products designed to assist people reach their full potential. While they are in such a business which most of us understand as needing a lot of natural resources to craft their products, in ABCL’s case, you would be surprised that their products are made in way without harming the environment. To make their chairs, cabinets, desks, architectural elements such as floors, panels, work-tools such as whiteboards, lighting, and so on ABCL uses only safe materials which can be recycled. Furthermore, their products are designed in a way that the components could be effortlessly dismantled by people for recycling or refurbishing.
This guarantees that after the product is utilized and at the end of the product’s life-cycle ABCL buys them back, and the durable parts that are good condition are re-used to make the same products once more. This includes careful planning from the design stage and waste management is an integral part of the product concept. ABCL also depend on wind and solar energy, that is, carbon-free renewable sources for 95 percent of their electricity and heating demands. They also go paperless. ABCL encourages their staffs to print less by permitting them access to devices like tablets, smartphones, and laptops.
