Sir,
Through the column of your estimate daily, I would like to express the difficulties of deforestation.
Deforestation is a permanent destruction of forests in order to make the land available for other uses. Deforestation is considered to be one of the one of the contributing factors of global climate change. Deforestation has may negative effects on the environment. Seventy percent of the world's plants and animal live in forests and are loosing their habits to deforestation. Tree roots anchor the soil. Without trees, the soil is free to wash or blow away, which can lead to vegetation growth problems.
About half of the world's tropical forests has been cleared (FAO) Forests currently cover about 30 percent of the world's land mass. The cutting that does occur should be balanced by the planting of enough young trees to replace the older ones felled in any given forests. The number of new tree plantations is growing each year, but their total still equal a tiny fraction of the earth's forested land.
I request you to highlight this message through newspaper. I also kindly request you to debute your reporter to the coverage of this issue in detail and help in tlacking this issue.

Subject: Protection of trees
Sir,
Yesterday, a whole line of trees along University Road were cut down. This was a totally irresponsible action. We should not be so careless about our environment. Where was the need to cut down these trees? They provide shade, beauty and freshness to the area and promoted health by providing clean air. They also provide a haven for many species of birds and animals. Now the entire area has become hot, sultry and breezeless.
Where were the organizations like Friends Of Trees, who always campaign for the protection of trees, when this heinous deed was being committed? Where were the other social organizations who shout at the top of their voices for a Clean Mumbai: Green Mumbai when this senseless deed was being carried out? Did the ones who gave such orders ever think of the health and the cleanliness of the environment? It is authorities such as these who should be held responsible for the total extinction of certain species of trees.
The organizations mentioned above should earnestly see to it that this kind of destruction, which has made many ardent tree-lovers sad, is not repeated. I earnestly suggest that the BMC undertake replanting of the trees in the locality as soon as possible.
Yours truly,
XYZ
