Subject- Wastage of money during elections
Sir
Through the esteemed column of your newspaper, I would like to bring the attention of common public towards the wastage of money during elections. Elections play a very important role in democracy. Everyone can cast a vote which proves that democracy is the only type of government which helps in upbringing of every citizen.
However, it is a very common sighting that political parties make very big arrangements to propagate their party's 'greatness'. There is an allowed amount of 10 lakhs rupees for elections but many ignore this set value. Some parties even stoop down a level by buying votes. They always make promises on how they will help the area but none of them do anything after winning the elections. Many parties arrange rallies and set up local offices to bring in as many votes as they can. Many arrangements cost an amount of more than a crore rupees but no authority questions it because they also have some of their own members in that.
I would like to conclude that irrespective of the party or a member's stature, a political party should manage its own finances or a department inside the election commission should be set up to put a watch on this and end the wastage of money.
Thanking you
Yours faithfully
