Kailash Colony, South Delhi

The Editor-in-Chief,

The Hindustan Times,

Delhi.

Subject: Frequent load shedding for three months in Kailash Colony.

Sir,

Through the columns of your esteemed national newspaper, I would like to highlight the plight of the people caused by frequent load shedding in Kailash Colony, South Delhi.

I am surprised that in spite of lodging several complaints with the Power Department and the Municipal Corporation nothing has been done till now and the residents of Kailash Colony continue to face frequent load shedding for the last three months. Due to this the people of this locality are facing much hardship.

Both parents and their children are anxious over the prevailing situation since it disrupts their daily study hours.

Many small shops owners who use power in their works, like fixing punctured tyres and checking the volume of air inside tyres for a small fee are in a desperate situation. They have rents to pay, bills to clear, and mouth to feed. With their daily little income reduced, they are in a quandary.

Long periods of load shedding, especially at night hours, also lead to an increase in criminal activities as anti-social elements take advantage of the situation.

It must be noted that it is the common and poor people who suffer the most during load shedding because they cannot afford to buy generators.

I therefore request the concerned departments and agencies and the authorities to urgently look into the matter immediately and restore uninterrupted power supply to this locality.

An early action on this matter will be highly appreciated.

Gratefully thanking you,

Yours sincerely,

J. KUNAL
