Explanation:

Refer to the editorial ‘Over to the CMs now’ (April 28); there appears to be a trust deficit between the Centre and states as only a few CMs attended the virtual meet of the PM with regard to the lifting of the lockdown and for evolving strategies to revive the economy of the country. The Centre must give funds to the states on equitable and need basis, otherwise, there will be political turmoil. The Punjab Chief Minister has repeatedly asked for previously pending GST share for the state, but nothing has come of it. Punjab is also effectively implementing the lockdown, despite the fact that wheat procurement operations are also to be kept in place

Subject: Massive destruction caused by frequent floods in the area.

Respected Sir/Madam,

I am writing this letter to bring to the notice the massive destruction caused by floods every year by the rivers in India. Every year floods kill thousands of animals and people; crops in thousands of hectares is damaged. People are forced to take shelter in relief camps.

The Government at the state and central levels have not taken any measures to tackle this problem. The Government must make a plan to divert and use this flood water. Canals can be made to divert the excess water to states that are comparatively dry. The fortification of banks by constructing reinforced banks, cutting of soil or erosion can be stopped.

I hope the concerned authorities will take a note of it and do something in this regard. Kindly give my views some space in your esteemed daily.

Thanking you.

Yours truly,

Aapka nam
