you can mention here, first about how ur friend is and about his family as informal letter is divided into three parts, so first part would cover this about asking and second para you can write that u didn't felt good when u got to know about yours friend marks, and then you will be writing about how u r guiding your friend ,and you can mention some quotes on hardwork and success in order that your letter seems to be a motivational to your friend... then at last you can write, pay my regards to your parents and stay safe and all..... this is what you can describe in your letter
